
PMA Awards
Time is running out to submit nominations and applications for PMA’s major awards. Nominations and applications are due September 1.
The Alvin L. Sussman Award is PMA’s highest honor. The award recognizes a property manager who has made an outstanding advancement in the property management profession. In addition to the award, PMA donates $500 in the winner’s name to his or her favorite charity. Award criteria include: enhancing relations between management and residents, advancing the profession by instituting a major improvement in operations, achieving a noteworthy accomplishment resulting in favorable public notice that brings acclaim to the profession, receiving public recognition for a deed or accomplishment that may not pertain to property management but reflects favorably on the individual as a property manager, or accomplishing a special achievement in the public sector. To nominate a PMA member for the award, submit a letter to PMA that describes reasons why the nominee merits PMA’s highest honor by September 1.
The Property Management Professional of the Year Award is presented to an individual for his or her degree of involvement in PMA activity, personal conduct and adherence to the PMA Code of Ethics, personal achievements in the profession, pursuit of personal improvement and education, relationship with and support of PMA Associate Members, job performance and accomplishments, involvement in and support of other property management-related associations and significant interest in and contributions to community and civic activities. To nominate a Full Member for the Property Management Professional of the Year Award, submit a letter by September 1 identifying the reasons why the nominee merits the honor.
The PMA Scholarship Award is presented to a Full Member in recognition of his or her professional accomplishments, participation in and contributions to PMA and service to clients. To apply, submit a letter identifying the number of years you have served as a property manager, the types of properties managed, PMA committee involvement, property management courses taken, real estate and personal accomplishments, future property management goals, three business references and other information that will help the Awards Committee. Applications are due September 1.
The Associate Member of the Year Award is presented to an Associate Member firm recognizing involvement in and contributions to PMA during the past year, business conduct and adherence to the Code of Ethics, support of community activities and other property management organizations, significant efforts developing improved products and services and procedures related to property management, promotion of cost-price management in the interest of controlling costs and relationship and cooperation with other Associate Members. To nominate a firm, submit a letter to PMA by September 1 identifying reasons why the nominee merits the honor.
The Stanley F. Reid Humanitarian Award is presented to a member who exemplifies boundless humanitarianism, having devoted life and career to bettering the human condition. Nominees must personify the doctrine that one’s primary duty is to work for the welfare of the human race, and must have made a significant difference in the workplace and/or the community on a continual basis. To nominate someone, submit a letter to PMA by September 1 identifying the reasons why the nominee merits the honor.
The PMA Memorial Scholarship is a significant monetary award to further the college education of a son or daughter or grandson or granddaughter of a PMA member. Application criteria include citizenship, scholarship and submission of an essay. Contact PMA at 301-657-9200 to obtain a copy of the application.
PMA Awards will be presented at the Annual Past Presidents’ Awards Banquet, Thursday, November 20.
